Description

Target aging at the source—your cells. Increase your NAD+ levels with Basis for healthy aging, to boost cellular energy, and maintain healthy DNA. Developed by Elysium chief scientist and renowned aging researcher Leonard Guarente, Ph.D. Increase and sustain NAD+ levels by 40% to:

  • Promote healthy aging, feel good for your age
  • Promote cellular energy and reduce general tiredness and fatigue
  • Fight aging at the cellular level and protect your DNA from stressors
  • Support collagen and ceramide synthesis for healthy skin
  • Support healthy muscle function

Ingredients

Basis contains two powerful ingredients to combat cellular aging:

  • Nicotinamide Riboside (NR-E)

NR is a naturally occurring form of vitamin B3 and a highly efficient precursor to NAD+—the raw material that the body uses to make NAD+ via a two-step process. This precursor has been shown to preferentially elevate NAD+ compared to nicotinic acid and nicotinamide, also called niacin.
  • Pterostilbene (PT)

A powerful polyphenol naturally produced by plants to protect against internal and external stress. The potent combination of NR and pterostilbene in Basis is designed to increase NAD+ levels and counter the decrease in the activity of sirtuins, which occurs with normal aging.
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, and contains no artificial colors or flavors.
  • NSF Certified for Sport, the only independent third-party certification program recognized by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). Please confirm the certification of each lot here.

NAD+ Levels and Healthy Aging go Hand-in-Hand

Research published in Nature Aging “suggests that a clear association exists between NAD+ and health status in human aging.” NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is found in every cell in your body. It is essential to the chemistry that keeps you up and running.

Unfortunately, NAD+ levels decline universally as we age.

How can you increase your NAD+ levels? Basis is the evidence-based choice

We now have a way to safely and sustainably boost NAD+ levels. Developed by Dr. Leonard Guarente, a leader in the field of aging research, Basis was clinically proven to increase NAD+ levels by an average of 40% in a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial published in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Partner Journals: Aging and Mechanisms of Disease

Boosted NAD+ activates sirtuins, supports cellular energy and metabolism, targets cellular aging to promote a healthy cellular aging process, and helps maintain healthy DNA.

“I believe Basis is a product that can improve cellular health and target, at least, some of the deficits incurred by aging. It is an important part of a strategy that I follow, along with exercise and a healthy diet, to maintain an active life as I enter my seventies, and hopefully much longer.”

Leonard Guarente, Ph.D.,Elysium Co-founder and Chief Scientist

Why is Basis unique among NAD+ supplements?

Basis is clinically proven to safely and sustainably increase NAD+ by an average of 40% in humans. Elysium’s toxicology study also confirmed the superiority of the NR-E in Basis when compared to the published safety profiles of other NAD+ supplements, underscoring the company’s rigorous commitment to research and quality.

The synergistic combination of Elysium’s proprietary and high-purity nicotinamide riboside (NR-E) with potent antioxidant pterostilbene (PT) makes Basis extraordinarily effective. Basis is also third-party tested by independent labs both during and after manufacture for purity and quality, and is independently verified as NSF Certified for Sport.

Live your best life with healthy cells.

“In my lab, we are constantly asking, 'What's the utility of this pure science that we're doing? Let's nudge it a little bit in a direction where people can connect to it and, hopefully, help them in some way.' Basis is the result of this kind of thinking - decades of research focused on the importance of sirtuins and NAD+ that led to a product that people can use in their everyday lives to support their cellular health.”

“I believe in keeping things ultra simple. One of my go-to ways to invest in myself is keeping my body’s cells in top shape. I take the NAD+ booster Basis—created by an MIT scientist—to optimize cellular metabolism and cellular energy.”

Levine, Ph.D.

“As a scientist who studies the biological aging process, I feel lucky to have a front-row seat to the amazing discoveries coming out of this field. As such, I make every attempt to apply what my colleagues and I are learning in the lab to what I do in my everyday life. In addition to following a specific dietary plan, practicing fasting, engaging in high intensity exercise, and trying to get 7.5 hours of sleep per night, I am also a proud user of Basis. In fact, it is the only supplement I currently use.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are sirtuins important for aging?

Sirtuins are a family of proteins that regulate cellular health. Sirtuins play a key role in regulating cellular homeostasis. Homeostasis involves keeping the cell in balance. However, sirtuins can only function in the presence of NAD+, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, a coenzyme found in all living cells.

What is Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+) and why is it important?

NAD+, or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a critical coenzyme found in every cell in your body, and it’s involved in hundreds of metabolic processes — but NAD+ levels decline with age. NAD+ has two general sets of reactions in the human body: Helping turn nutrients into cellular energy as a key player in metabolism and working as a helper molecule for proteins that regulate other cellular functions. These processes are incredibly important.

What is Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) and why is it important?

This form of Vitamin B could be the key to increasing NAD+ levels — here’s why. Nicotinamide riboside is often called NR for short, and it’s a precursor to NAD+, meaning it's the raw material from which your body makes NAD+ through a series of chemical transformations. Human clinical studies, including ours, have shown efficacy of NR supplementation in increasing NAD+ levels.

What is Pterostilbene and why is it important?

Pterostilbene is a polyphenol, a type of molecule that occurs in plants, particularly small berries and nuts. Blueberries are a particularly rich source of pterostilbene; although it is found in grapes, pterostilbene (unlike its cousin resveratrol) doesn’t survive the wine-making process.

What’s a polyphenol?

“Phenol” refers to a certain chemical structure (in this case, a hydroxyl group linked to a benzene ring); “poly” just means the molecules have more than one of the structure. One of polyphenols’ main jobs is to help the plant fight off pathogens. When eaten by humans, polyphenols may serve as powerful antioxidants.

Is there anything I should notice once I start taking Basis?

Basis is designed to work beneath the surface, so its primary purpose is not to deliver surface-level results. Taking Basis is an investment in the long-term health of your cells, and you may not feel different despite the improvements happening inside your body. Everyone’s physiology is unique and results vary from person to person.

What are the results of your clinical trial?

Elysium conducted a first-in-humans study demonstrating clearly that Basis can increase and sustain cellular NAD+ levels. Participants in the trial experienced a 40% average increase in cellular NAD+ levels within a month, which was maintained for the duration of the trial. We also tested a variety of biological markers to add to the existing body of evidence confirming that the ingredients in Basis are safe.

How do subscriptions work?

Our prepaid subscription plans are our most cost-effective options. When you select a semi-annual or annual plan, the pricing offers a savings to customers who commit to a long-term subscription. The longer the commitment, the greater the savings: $40/bottle for a 1-year (annual) subscription and $45/bottle for a 6-month (semi-annual) subscription. These prepaid subscriptions are considered final sale, so if you cancel in the middle of a 6-month or 1-year plan, you will continue to receive the remaining bottles, and the cancellation will take effect at the end of your plan before renewal. Our monthly subscriptions are $50/month and can be canceled at any time prior to your next shipment. Please contact our Customer Experience Team at care@elysiumhealth.com if you need to talk about your plan.
