Description

Vision by Elysium Health is a breakthrough in eye care for longevity, protection, and performance. Developed with the guidance of Theodore Leng, M.D., leading retinal specialist, ophthalmologist, and Director of Clinical and Translational Research at the Byers Eye Institute at Stanford University School of Medicine, Vision is specifically formulated to support visual performance and eye health at every stage of life. Vision leverages the latest research on xanthophyll carotenoids—plant pigments that accumulate in the eye and provide powerful antioxidant defense and photoprotection—with Elysium Health’s Protective Intervention for Xanthin-based Eye Longevity (PIXEL) Complex™. Vision’s novel formulation:

  • Enhances visual performance by increasing contrast sensitivity
  • Filters high-energy blue light and protects the eyes from oxidative stress
  • Targets the age-related loss in macular pigment density to support long-term eye and vision health

Ingredients

Vision combines foundational ingredients in the clinically proven AREDS 2 formula with protective xanthophylls in Elysium’s PIXEL Complex:

  • Based on AREDS 2: A well-established formula and extensively studied by the National Eye Institute for supporting long-term macular health.
  • PIXEL Complex: An advanced formulation of four different xanthophyll carotenoids—pigments found in nature that play a critical role in eye protection and longevity. Lutein, meso-zeaxanthin, and zeaxanthin support visual function and provide protection against high-energy blue light and oxidative stress. They also combat the age-related loss in macular pigment density to support eye longevity. Astaxanthin provides powerful antioxidant defense and improves blood flow to the retina to support eyes during extensive screen use.
  • Gluten-free, nut-free, lactose-free, and contains no artificial flavors or colors.
  • See nutrition label for more information.
  • The quality and purity information of every lot is available here.

Recommended Use

  • Take two softgels in the morning, with or without food.
  • Each bottle contains a 30-day supply.
  • This product is intended for healthy adults. If pregnant or nursing, consult with your physician before using.

Introducing the PIXEL Complex

Our eyes are exquisitely vulnerable to oxidative stress, from constant exposure to high-energy blue light, environmental pollution, aging, genetic factors, and intrinsic metabolic activities, which impact eye health and visual performance.

Xanthophyll carotenoids are plant pigments that play a critical role in photo and antioxidant protection and three of these—lutein, meso-zeaxanthin, and zeaxanthin—are found selectively in the eye, in a specialized structure called the macula. As we age, levels of these protective macular pigments decline, contributing to deterioration in eye health and visual performance.

The PIXEL Complex in Vision provides all three xanthophylls to increase macular pigment density and provide protection against blue light, oxidative stress, and support visual function.

Clinically proven to increase macular pigment density

The PIXEL Complex in Vision provides all three macular pigments, meso-zeaxanthin, zeaxanthin, and lutein, in a specific formulation (M+Z+L) that’s clinically proven to rapidly and significantly increase pigment density in the macula

In contrast, AREDS 2, a well-established formula extensively studied by the National Eye Institute for long-term macular support, contains just two of the three macular carotenoids (Z+L). Supplementation with Z+L in AREDS 2 results in a delayed, modest increase in macular pigment density.

Clinically proven benefits for every stage of life

Developed with the guidance of Theodore Leng, M.D., leading retinal specialist, ophthalmologist, and Director of Clinical and Translational Research at the Byers Eye Institute at Stanford University School of Medicine, Vision is specifically formulated to support visual performance and eye health at every stage of life.

Macular pigments lutein, zeaxanthin, and meso-zeaxanthin in the PIXEL Complex are clinically proven to support visual performance and long-term macular health. Astaxanthin, a fourth xanthophyll carotenoid in the PIXEL Complex, provides powerful antioxidant defense and is clinically proven to support eyes during extended screen use and increase blood flow to the retina for daily eye support.

A new Vision for eye longevity

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Vision and what does it do?

Vision improves upon the AREDS 2 formula (extensively studied by the National Eye Institute for age-related eye conditions) by combining ingredients in AREDS 2 formulation with Elysium’s PIXEL complex which contains meso-zeaxanthin, zeaxanthin, lutein, and astaxanthin for complete macular support and eye longevity. Vision is designed to support everyday visual tasks (reading, screen use, and nighttime driving), performance (increased contrast sensitivity), and eye longevity (targets the age-related loss in macular pigment density).

What is the PIXEL Complex and how does it support vision and eye health?

The PIXEL Complex contains four xanthophyll carotenoids: lutein, zeaxanthin, meso-zeaxanthin, and astaxanthin. Lutein, zeaxanthin, and meso-zeaxanthin (also known as “macular pigments”) specifically accumulate in our macula where they provide antioxidant protection and function to filter blue light to support visual performance. As we age, however, levels of these three pigments decline. Supplementation with a specific combination of these three pigments has been clinically proven to increase macular pigment density and increase contrast sensitivity and vision in glare and low-light conditions. Astaxanthin in the PIXEL Complex is also a potent antioxidant and is clinically proven to improve blood flow to the retina to support the delivery of nutrients and oxygen and support eyes during extended screen use.

What is AREDS 2?

AREDS 2 is a nutrient formula established by the National Eye Institute’s major clinical trials on age-related eye conditions (AREDS/AREDS 2). The AREDS 2 formula replaces beta-carotene in the original AREDS formula with lutein and zeaxanthin and has been shown to be even more effective than the original formulation in slowing the progression of a common macular condition.

How is Vision different from AREDS 2?

Vision contains the exact formulation in AREDS 2, plus meso-zeaxanthin and astaxanthin. By adding meso-zeaxanthin, Vision provides all three macular pigments (lutein, zeaxanthin, and meso-zeaxanthin) in contrast to AREDS 2, which only provides two of the three pigments (lutein and zeaxanthin). Studies show that supplementation with all three macular pigments results in a more rapid and significant increase in macular pigment density compared to supplementation with just lutein and zeaxanthin. Furthermore, astaxanthin (which is not in AREDS 2) is a potent antioxidant that has been clinically proven to increase blood flow to the retina to support the delivery of nutrients and oxygen and support eyes during extended screen use.
